Minnetonka 2020 Boys Box Lacrosse

League Information

For the 2020 box ("indoor") lacrosse season, MLA will again be participating in the lacrosse league operated by TC Lacrosse and managed by former pro box player Ryan Ward. We had an excellent experience with this league over its first two seasons, and we're looking forward to another.

Season Details

Preseason Practices:
New for 2020, the MLA has added several box preseason practices. We will have preseason practices at the Tonka Dome on February 8 & 15 between 4:30 and 6:30 pm; at Chaska Dome on February 22 between 6:00 and 10:00 pm; and at Hopkins Pavilion on February 28 between 5:00 and 9:00 pm.  Additional pre-season practices under consideration, but dates, times, and location remain TBD.

League Play:  March 7 - April 19
-Six regular-season games.
-No games on Easter.
-NOTE: We expect to have Tonka teams play games on one of the weekends that bookends Spring Break, but not both. That said, we have asked the league to avoid scheduling Tonka games on both of those weekends.

Regular Season Practices:
Regular season practices will be held at Hopkins Pavilion for one hour on Fridays afternoons/evenings from March 6 through April 17.

In general:
- 8U practices 5-6pm
- 10U practices at 6-7pm (expected)
- 12U practices at 7-8pm (expected)
- 14U practices at 8-9pm (expected)

Note, however, that practice for 8U or 14U may need to be moved to Thursday evening from 5-6pm on 3/19 and 4/16.

Games: Typically one game per team per weekend, to be played on either Saturday and Sunday. Exact game schedule TBD, subject to league scheduling. Make-up games may be added as needed. One doubleheader per team may be scheduled depending on league scheduling requirements.

Tonka teams should expect to play most of their games at the Hopkins Pavilion or at 1st Athlete (Edina), but may play some games at Burnsville Soccer Blast, Lakeville Ames Arena, or St. Louis Park.

Cost:  $350 per player (includes minimum of ten practices on indoor turf, six league games, and a Tonka pinnie that can be used as a practice pinnie for the summer season).

Equipment: Our league requires full lacrosse equipment (lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, mouthguard, and athletic cup). Hockey helmets with full face cage may be permitted in the league's discretion. Athletic sneakers or turf shoes must be work; no cleats permitted.

Uniform: Registration includes a reversible Tonka lacrosse pinnie that each player will wear during games. In addition, players should wear their Tonka blue shorts. Wear really cool socks.
